A fun sketch to end the night on.  Even unfinished I kinda like it.

Last of Sara...

for a bit.  I'm good with this head study, the loose mixed with the tighter line work.  It was fun.

Trouble

I must have drawn and erased the head in this one five times.  I just could not get it right.  Frustrating since I like most of the rest of the piece.

Sara turns away

A very nice pose that I had fun drawing.  Would like this to have been fifteen instead of just ten minutes.

Favorite of the night

First sketch of the evening and it turns out I could do no better.  Love the simplicity.

The gestures

The usual first drawings of the night.  I think it was better than last week.  Thanks, Sara.

Typical

Just to clarify, another drawing is beneath this one, hence the gray smudge surrounding the figure.  Typical reclining figure.  I switched paper and it seems I drew a bit less heavy handed.

With a twist

I think I became enamored with all of the elements of the pose and just moved from one to the other without worrying about the cohesiveness necessary for the drawing to be a success.  Still, I like many of the elements.

A bit of a head study

Started out with the figure but I got sidetracked with the head.  I think I was doing a larger study of her face so I could better place it, but for whatever reason I just stuck with it until the bell rang.

So simple

Why I can't just stay with the simple stuff, I don't know.  But I do know that I really like this one.

Something a bit different

I'm not a big fan of drawing from photo reference but I have a patron who asked that I do a drawing of her son from a large print.  I'm guessing this is late 70's to early 80's.  This isn't the final version as she had me drop a smudgy background in but I thought I'd post this since I don't do this to often.

Back to normal

A couple of weeks without drawing is like... well... no fun.  Had a good night and here are the gestures.

Back to work tonight

Another Jeff the Sculptor drawing.  I like this solely for the linear work.  The pose (as I've cropped it) just doesn't feel right.  Oh well, this is the only place it gets seen.

Sara rests

I wish I had gone in and done a better job with the right arm, at least finishing it enough to distinguish it from the pillow beneath her head.

It's Monday

I don't have much to say.  A bit of a weekend, I'm afraid.

The sculptor ponders

Another exaggerated image of Jeff, our resident sculptor and long time model.  There are some things I like about this drawing and, as usual, things I wish I had taken more care to do.

Big shapes

Simple and quick.  This study was a joy to do since it used mostly mass and little in the way of noodling detail.

Right side of the figure

As unfinished as this drawing is I really like it.  All of the shapes and the movement of said shapes made this fun to draw and I still enjoy looking at it.  Sometimes (alright, a lot of the time) I bemoan the fact that time ran out and I have been unable to finish certain sketches but this is one of those times I think the lack of finish is what makes this drawing what it is.
