Sigh

No life drawing for a couple of weeks.  I'll have to dig around and see what unused sketches I can find.  This was from last week.

Mouth, ear, kind of a nose

A bit of a face today.  Tomorrow, goin' all the way.  I really enjoy drawing Cally, lots of form to really get into.

Faceless repose

My inability to render her face seems to have been a theme from the other night's session.  This was turning out to be a pretty nice drawing, too.

...without a face

A bit of Billy Idol to start the week.  If only I had eyes in the sketch.  The challenge last week was the sunburn the Cally was sporting.  It really messes with finding the shadows and highlights in areas.  I think I overcame the issue, though.

Gestures

We had a very small group but had some good poses.  A tradeoff, I suppose.  Thanks, Cally.

Favorite of the night

Maybe not the best drawing of the session but the one I had the most fun with.  Loved the pose and all of the great shapes involved with this one.

Tough pose

This pose was a challenge for Cally not only for the extended twist but she tried to keep a great big grin on her face.  I was having a wonderful time with this one and would love to do a painting from it.  Her smile reminded me of some of the great pinup images from the 40's & 50's.

Better

A much more artistic rendering of the torso as compared to yesterday's posting.  I really enjoy just focusing on a small area of the figure and creating an image that is not quite abstract.

Just resting

I really like this pose, natural and relaxed.  The left arm was fun to draw and I'm glad she let her hair down for the last half of the session.

In retrospect...

I guess it was a pretty good night.  Getting comfortable with drawing Cally and I think it's starting to show.

Quick study but it really felt like the most solid piece I did.  Not too loose, not too over rendered.

Another simple sketch

Probably my favorite drawing of the evening.  It also happened to be the first one of the night as well.

Simple and focused

I like the slight slump to the figure, forcing the shoulders forward and a gentle curve down through the belly.  Simple and elegant.

Another fun pose

Lots to draw, same old issue... time.  I need to get back to trying to throw just a single line to delineate the form rather than searching with the charcoal.

Nice pose

I enjoyed the pose but, again, ran out of time to really do anything meaningful with the drawing.  I think I may go back to my old ways of just doing select sections of the figure that hold my interest.
