Let's skip the gestures

Our dancer is back and she really gave us some nice poses.  This one is beginning to come together.  Not a bad start to the evening.

Fave

My best effort of the evening.  Granted I worked on it during break so it should be the nicest.

One of the few that I'm okay with.  Still not liking what I accomplished, though.

Getting to know Cally again

I haven't drawn Cally in some time and it takes a bit to get back in the groove.  This is not a great representation of her but that is the fun of art, to keep trying.

Cally's gestures

Not a great night for me.  I got a couple that are okay but for the most part... eh.  Here are the gestures from Cally's return to modeling.

Most fun of the night

Second to last pose and I just started to get into the drawing.  I know I wouldn't be able to do the whole figure justice so I chose to just draw her from the hips up.  Really liked this one.  Not sure if I even want to go in a work any more on it.

Simple back pose

A bit angular but I think I like that.  Another one that will take only a bit to finish.

Locks

I really enjoyed drawing her hair.  I will go back in on this one and finish at least that much.  I'm okay with the lost edges so just a little finish should work for this one.

Back with the longer poses

Nice little study of our dancer.  Love how the legs cross and the distribution of the muscle of her left leg.  The arch of her back could've been handled a bit better with the negative space.

I really like the top two gestures.  They started the night off right and I think I had a pretty good evening, drawing wise.

Rough day

Looks like Jeff finally had it and just passed out.  Seriously, it's a great pose that presents a lot of challenges and I think it came out pretty well.

Shadows

I really like the heavy handed technique along with the deep shadows.

Coulda...

Shoulda.  Just didn't do this pose justice.  Not sure what I was thinking by abandoning the technique of a shorter pose just because I have more time.  Hmph.

A Glance

I really had fun with the shadows on this drawing.  Would like to go back and finish this at some point.  Got a lot of drawings in front of this, though.

Shadows, shapes and forms

This was starting out well but I ran into some difficulty with the upraised arm.

A bit of back

Was having fun with this one.  Loved the shapes created by the shadows.

Quick sketch

Thought I'd get further with this drawing but got hung up on the nuances of the face.  The angle and the fact that it is resting on her arm make for a challenge.

Welcome back to our dancer.  The group sure was happy to have this model back on the stand.  She does such a graceful job for us.  Not sure my drawings this week even remotely did her justice.

First drawing...

turned out to be my favorite of the night.  The movement and the treatment seem to work for me in this sketch.
