Gestures of a new model

A big welcome to Sarah, our newest model.  She really did a great job for having never modeled before.  Thanks to Lady J for sending her our way.

A reach

Shoulda gotten to the hands... at least the right hand.

Fingers

You wouldn't recognize this face because it kept slipping down the hands and changing position.  However, that doesn't take away from my liking it fairly well.  It has a certain static energy to it.

Profile

D just stretched out on a pile of pillows and took a snooze (not really).  I like the large shapes with broad strokes of charcoal.  Unfortunate that I didn't get to the foot, though.

Right shoulder

Simple line drawing to get into the flow of things.

Gestures

D returned and gave us some pretty dynamic gesture poses.  A small group of artists but since it was still in the mid to high 90s when we started I guess a few just thought it was preferable to stay indoors with the AC.

Slight departure

Technique is a bit different than normal.  Not a bad thing, just not sure what I was thinking.

Losing her head

Not sure if finishing her noggin wouldn't have made this less interesting.

Takin' a break

Lady J looks to be taking it easy for this, the last pose of the night.

Fail

It's been so long since I tried this technique that I just couldn't quite get into the rhythm needed (at least I do) to try this elimination style of drawing.  I was trying to do it without linework but gave in towards the end.  Oh well, a fun experiment.  May have to try it again.

Let's skip the gestures this time...

and go with a double exposure.  Was too lazy to change the paper between these two poses.

Funky chair

We usually get two or three of these drawings over the course of a month.  I think the model's like the ugly, weird little faux gamer chair.

A little five minute sketch.  First of the night and just getting into the session.

The sketch before break.  Put in a little extra time during intermission to polish a couple of areas.

Edges.  I think my favorite aspect of this sketch is the forearm disappearing into the model's leg.
