An unfinished portrait study

A very short 5 minute head study.  I feel I captured her pretty well for such a quick sketch.

Some gestures

There were a couple of gestures that I really wish could have been far longer.  Lady B does such a wonderful job for us that it makes drawing not only a joy but painful when time runs out.

Lady L

A hint of facial profile would make this almost finished.  Almost...

Back to Lady A

From way back, this is one of my favorite models.  I always seemed to get interesting drawings of Lady A.

Cast shadow

Small study focusing on the cast shadows.  I sometimes want to go overboard and really push the shadows but often, at least when I do it, the figure becomes harsh and loses feeling.  I much prefer to use a more gentle and softer approach, to retain the feminine sensibility.

Madame E from earlier this year

Simple seated pose with a lot of hair.  Probably a ten minute pose.

Reaching back into the archives again

Late last year, I believe.   I like what was going on with this pose and think it may have turned into something nice.

Gettin' a leg up

Lady B took this pose as a gesture and we asked her to do it again for a bit longer.  Looks like it should have been even longer, eh?

Back study

Would like to have done lost edges on the left side but then the piece became even more abstract.

Like a tin soldier

Barely a start

More of a study in pieces than as a whole figure.  Really would like to have rendered the braid more.

Back to work and the gestures to prove it

Always feels good to get back to drawing from life.  Lady B does a great job every time.

Lady J revisited

Lady J was a steady model for quite a while but has since moved on.  This is from a 2016 session.

From last year

We only had this model once but I really feel she did a wonderful job and had a unique figure that offered some fun challenges.

Pillows and shadows

A longer pose but not one I am happy with.  I only got around to the face at the end and then just kind of semi obliterated it since I was not pleased with what I had.  Unfortunate since I like the shapes and feeling of weight in this one.
