Basically a start of a torso study.  Loved the movement she created with such a static pose.

The Fabric of Space

I was inspired by a great image from Thomas Blackshear "Night in Day"

and the wonderful line in 2001: A Space Odyssey... "My God, it's full of stars"

It was like I was just putting down markers to get back to and never did.

Finally

Feels good to finally put this one to rest.  I relented and finished this off with digital textures and stock photos (flames).  Although this changed a lot from my initial concept I really am happy with how it turned out.  2018 is the 50th anniversary of the film's release.

I was really having fun throwing lines around on this one.  Nice, sweeping shapes to work with.

A tough night for me...

I recently lost my bifocal glasses and spent the evening trying to use reading glasses to see my drawing but had to try and focus on the model sans any help from those marvelous round panes of glass.  I hate getting old.

Only five 1 minute poses last night.  Got a late start and no one argued with the shortened gesture session so...

Languid

There is a need to refine this one.  I love the way her body flows into different masses and shapes.

Not my favorite pose

She looks stiff and unnatural in this particular pose.  I didn't have a lot of luck making this work.

Very unfinished sketch

Should have concentrated on one or two areas with the time constraints on this one.  If I recall I lost even more time relocating in the room for a better angle to work with.  Could have been a solid drawing if everything fell into place.

The braid she was sporting reminds me of the Helga paintings by Wyeth (Andrew).
