Just gettin' a handle on the new model

It usually takes me awhile to get in sync with a new model.  That and not always getting the angle I'd like to have.  I think Madame D will work out pretty well for us.

Playing with ink again.

Just thought I'd try and get my hand back into some pen and ink.  It's been fun so far.  I have a couple other drawings ready to be inked, this was just a tryout.  Some of it worked, some of it... didn't.

As I've stated (too often lately) I had a lot of trouble knocking off the rust of not drawing from a live model.  So different than working from photos, something I really don't like doing much.  I hope I'll be getting some more practice in soon.

Another charcoal on toned paper sketch.  Not, in my opinion, as successful as the previous sketch.

Bad start and an okay finish

This was my start... yikes!  I normally push through but I changed gears and restarted

...with this.  Sure, it's not the best but I just couldn't continue with that original sketch.  Although I have to say that I like the line treatment better in the top image.

I'm playing around with toned papers and charcoal with the accent of white conté to "pop" it.

About 3 years ago.  My eyes worked a bit better then.  Well, at least I had glasses that worked better then.  Growin' old kinda sucks...
