Gestures of Mr. M

 Mr. M always puts a ton of effort into his poses, especially the gestures.  Dynamic and powerful.  It's too bad that they can't be held for a longer pose but that would just be cruel.

The long pose

 I love foreshortening but this just wasn't the best angle to work with.  At least not for me that night.  There are aspects of this that I like but overall this didn't turn out to be a very strong drawing.

Strong twist

 I likened this to a spiral staircase and just was mesmerized by the coil the pose presented.  A little longer pose that was fun challenge.

Got a bit too distracted with the strong shadow

 The face was knocked in with about 20 seconds left as I was spending waaaaaaay too much time on that shadow cast down the upper torso.  Should have given more thought to the hand as well.

A bit elongated

 Sometimes when you only have 5-10 minutes get the dimensions perfect might take more time away from exploring the actual nuances of the pose.  If this had been a 20 or 30 minute sketch, I would have been more precise.  Still, I had fun with this.

Gestures from the last session

 We only drew 5 one minute poses so we could move on to the longer stuff.  As I look at the later drawings I think maybe I should have warmed up a bit more...

We're on our summer schedule so here's an oldie...

 About 7 years ago.  Interesting to see what I still use and what I've left behind.  Sometimes I wish I could go back and push some of the styles I might have been trying to develop.

 Okay, I just didn't want to noodle the previous drawing any longer so I took a different easel did another sketch of the final pose of the evening.

 Probably my favorite drawing of the night.  45 minute pose that I only spent about 20 minutes on.  When you hit the end you just have to know when to stop.

Seated in conté

 This was fun to draw.  Not sure if the image is that great but I enjoyed delving into this one.

 A quick conté sketch with a focus on the bathrobe she had draped.
