The long pose part two
After we broke the long pose we went with a seated pose and I just decided to loosen up. Pretty happy with the result. All in all, a fun evening of drawing.

The long pose...
...cut short. Lady S was holding staff and it just wasn't going to be comfortable for the entire 45 minutes. So we cut the pose in half and this is where it sat. This was turning into something and I'm sad to see that it won't come into its own. I kinda felt like I was channeling Shane Wolf when I was doing this.

Vignette
I really love doing these little vignette studies. Needed a little more time but that's the nature of art. Capture what you can and appreciate it for the time you get.

The result
I've had more successful drawings done in less time. However, it was very relaxing to not feel pressured by the clock. I should have moved to the other side of the room, however. Much better shadows on that side.

Gestures from a different kind of session
A different kind of night, you ask? Well, we had our gesture session (obviously) but we decided to do a single pose with a single break for the model. How did that go? Tune in tomorrow for the result.

The final pose of the evening
Lovely pose with her right leg draped over the arm of the chair. I'm actually just as happy with what I left out as I am with what I chose to keep in. I may finish the face, just to see how the focus changes. As it stands (or sits) this composition has such a strong diagonal to it, I'm a bit reticent to mess with it. Regardless, pretty happy with this one.

One of two I was happy(ish) with
I was having fun with this one. Would like to have had more time and better paper to work on this, but I just have to quit being precious with my work. It's all a learning experience.

A little head study for 12 minutes
I couldn't get the details of her mouth and chin right so I made the artistic decision to be vague and mysterious.

The model moved
The twist was great, she just couldn't hold it. So I gave up and did a little head study to round out the fifteen minutes. 'sall good.

Long pose
After three 15 minute drawings (and a break for the model) this 45 minute drawing felt less daunting than usual. I'm liking the format we came up with. I became pretty comfortable with the process.

Incomplete
Other than the gestures, this was the only charcoal sketch. For some reason I felt more comfortable with the conté this session.
