Gestures of good faith

Sheesh, I hope nobody really reads the titles of some of these posts.  I should get more sleep before I type.

Sara... why so serious?

I like aspects of this drawing while others vex me.  The head and face work for me while the proportions don't seem correct.  But that's just the way it goes sometimes.

Ticklish?

I had so much trouble with this foot.  Hence not much got done with the rest of the drawing.

I warned you

Some good stuff here but the things that are wrong jump out way too much to make this a decent drawing.

Latest piece

This is part of a contribution to a benefit show.  I have the second part on my board at the moment.  Pardon the image quality, I didn't take the time to use a tripod.

Real life steps in

My scheduled model got called into her day job and couldn't pose for us.  So I will have to used some drawings from previous sessions.  Warning, there is a reason I don't post some of these.  Some are still decent enough but others just don't really work for me.  But I put work like that up to show that it's not all automatic and sometimes it's just not a good day at the office.  This one works for me, though.

Languid

Ah, the classic repose pose.  I'm always reminded of a landscape when I draw this particular angle.  Lot's of fun.

Old school

This reminds me of a drawing from the classical days of art.  Seems it should have been part of a mural or done as an etching.  Alas, it's just a quick sketch.

Kinda wiggly lines

A very free flowing drawing with some strange linework in the torso.  Still, fun and loose making the other drawings easier to approach.

Fluid

I like the languid manner Sara is posing in this sketch.  She is a lot of fun to draw and it was good to have her back.

Long pose

This was about 35 minutes long, probably the longest pose we've had in years.  I find when I have more time I slow down rather than maintain my pace in order to get more done.  Still, I like the drawing well enough.

Fun drawing

Nestled in the abstract line work of the drapery is a nice pose consisting of some great shapes.  I thought I would be spending most of my time with the left arm but it just grew into a pretty solid sketch with some wonderful relationships between distinct elements of mass.  I'm not even upset that it's not finished in the traditional sense.  Yeah, I like this one.

All legs

I worked on this foot over and over again.  It doesn't look big enough but it's accurate.  Stuff like that just drives me nuts.

Warming up

Trying to get used to my first pair of "real" glasses, bifocals that I hope will eventually help me get back some of my touch that I feel I've lost over the last couple of years.  So far my opinion is mixed, but it's only been a few days.

Gesture and a pretty weak drawing

I just got my first pair of glasses Wednesday and am trying to get used to bifocals.  I hope I get used to them soon.  I think I did better as the night wore on.

Cally in repose

Simple and relaxed pose makes for a simple and relaxed drawing.  A couple of things I'd rework but overall I kinda like it.

Let's dig out something decent

First 10 minute sketch of the night.  Seemed to be starting well.

My favorite of the session

I like drawing the figure in perspective.  Cally makes a great model for this exercise with all of the great shapes forming perfect building blocks, creating a landscape of sorts.  I love how her head nestles into the recess formed by her right shoulder and the subtle turn of her upper body as she rests on her left side.  Just a lot of fun.
