Best drawing of the night

Not my favorite pose, though.  I never like it when parts of the figure are so obscured that they make the drawing look incorrect.  Missing the right shoulder and upper arm really messes with how I see this sketch.  And yet it is correct.  Go figure.

High Contrast

A decent start but I ran outta time, again.  I'm not sure I'm using the right charcoal for the paper.  I need to experiment a bit and see if I can get back to the style I was doing a few years back.  I don't think that I've necessarily evolved in a way I'm happy with.  Would like to get back to a more delicate treatment of the figure.

Nice movement

For a static pose, that is.  Love the feel that she's about to stand up or possibly just lean a bit forward.

Not the best drawing of the night, but...

it was the best pose.  I wish this would have been at least ten if not fifteen to half an hour long.  There was so much going on in her back with the extreme bend to the spine and great musculature.  It took too long just to get the lines down that I couldn't get to the rendering aspect of such a terrific pose from a terrific model.

Gestures with Lady B

Wow, Lady B gave us some great poses, especially during the gesture session.  She is one of the best models I've ever drawn and she just gets better.

Seated

I had fun with this one.  Would love to have finished, though.

Madame E from the archive

Diggin' through the old ones again.  This was from the spring, I believe.  Maybe winter.

Lady J from '16

Lady J sure gave us some great poses while she was here.

A modified Thinker?

I like the free lines in this one.  Nice movement.

Hippy dippy

An odd pose that seemed strange as I drew it.  I like the shadows, though.

A few studies

I don't usually put multiple images per page but I didn't have my big boy glasses and found out that reading specs are fine for seeing the image but that my eyes are no longer good enough to really see the detail of the model.  I felt frustrated as I was drawing so I just kind of decided that since I wasn't gonna be happy I would just put these all together.  So it goes.  I won't be forgetting my bifocals again, donchaknow.

Going waaaaaaay back

Solid little drawing.  I think I was more relaxed back then.  That and my eyesight was a lot better.

Buncha shapes layered on a buncha shapes.  Kinda cool to do.

Strokes and missing edges

This is one where I wanted to just keep going.  Great pose with some really fun shadows.  Lady B is one of those models where you just want to keep working on that one pose and become very frustrated when you don't get the time you want.

It's Thursday so it must be...

the day to post my favorite piece from the previous session.  I could have noodled all day long on this one.  I was having so much fun with the midsection and how it moves in and out of the drapery.

Baby got, well...

Delicate

I felt like I was channeling Jeffrey Jones as I was sketching this one.  This feels like the work I was doing 10 - 12 years ago (maybe longer).
