 Another one where I try and 'draw' out the figure from the toned background.

A little leg

 Simple little sketch focusing on the midriff and legs.  Very minimally done.

Sway

 Simple seated pose done... simply.  I should have used the power of lost edges to better effect.  Still, I like this for what I did choose to do, especially the mass of the leg and midriff.

Lady S in repose

 A slightly longer pose but still only enough time to get the preliminary information knocked in.  I think I'm going to go back to ending our sessions with a 45 minute pose so that I can get at least one decent drawing out of the evening.

Finding form from formlessness

 Fancy way of saying I used a lot of eraser.

Long pose

 Perspective.  Challenging fun.  If this had been a 2 or 3 hour pose I'm sure I would have made quite a few adjustments.  However, pretty happy with it overall.

More erasure

 I've been getting a bit of a kick out of the quick toning of the paper and using the eraser as a drawing tool and not just a way to try and fix my mistakes.  Fun.

Pillows

 This has some problems but I love the left leg.  So many cool shapes and so many challenges to make those shapes all work together..

Gestures of Miss E

 We've been fortunate to have started working with a couple new models the last couple of weeks.  I look forward to becoming comfortable enough to start knocking out some good studies.  Here are the gestures, some poses that deserved a much longer drawing.

Tattoos and drapery

 I finally took a stab at rendering Lady S' face.  Not happy with the heavy handed treatment of her hair.

 Just getting used to the unique challenges a new model poses for us.  If we didn't try to capture what is before us then we could just use a store mannequin and call it a day.

 Smudge.  Sketch.  Erase.  Voila... fun!

 One of my favorite models.  Brianna had an aloofness which helped, me at least, not see a personality so much as a lithe collection of shapes to be rendered.  Clinical?  Perhaps.  But she made for quite a muse for the time we had her.

 Erin with child.  These were enjoyable sessions.  We don't get many chances to draw pregnant women.  Challenging.

Tayla from 2020

 Tayla was a terrific model and I hope she's doing well.  This is a basic study of her legs.  Loved playing with the shadows and shapes in this one.  The drapery is very loosely defined.
