My favorite sketch of the night

 Unfortunately the pose shifted as the time wore on and I couldn't do an accurate depiction of the rest of her torso.  What I got done was satisfying, though.

Back study

 Some nice musculature on display and I really wanted to take advantage of that.  We do have a challenge with Lady S since she has a very large tattoo on her upper back and it makes it a sort of guessing game when trying to find the shapes.  This is when an understanding of the basic muscles and skeleton comes into play.

Heavy handed prep sketch.

 I intentionally kept this basic as I liked the pose and want to go back in on it at a later date.  If that happens I'll post a before and after.

Shadows in conté

 A shame this was a short pose.  I really wanted to dig into those fantastic shadows playing across her torso.  Lost opportunity, for sure.

 I love working with bistre conté these days.  This drawing just kept creating itself, it seemed.  So much fun...

 Another simple sketch with a focus on the shadows playing across the model's torso.

Distracted

 I focused on the model's right arm as I was fascinated with the perspective created.  Loved working with the simple shapes and easy lines.

A couple of quick sketches...

 We had Mr. M take whatever pose he wanted and to break the pose when he felt like it.  It's a fun exercise in trying to get the essentials blocked in before losing the pose.  Since we didn't know the length of the pose we had to just concentrate on what was important.
