Drapes and shadows

The best one of the night.  Needed a bit more time but that goes without saying.

Some elbow

I like how I cheated with the hand and kind of "melted" the fingers into her hip.

Heavy hand

Nice play of light and shadow.  A bit more active with my strokes on this one but I like to get a bit animated with the charcoal from time to time.

Seated

Incomplete and unsatisfactory.  I like the angle of the pose, just not what I did.

Back to drawing

It's been a couple of weeks since our local life drawing co-op, The Black Hand Group, met to draw.  It feels good get back in front of the easel and draw from the figure.  Here are my gesture drawings from last night.

Simple back

More lost edges in this one that actual rendered ones.

Good golly...

it's Miss Molly.  Old sketch from earlier this season.  Since this will be the second week without a drawing session I'll be reaching back into the most recent archives.

Highlight

An okay drawing.  The only interesting part is the strong lighting used on Courage.  I look forward to more sessions with this style lighting.

A little shoulder

A shoulder study of Miss Molly.  I love working with the back muscles, especially the upper back.  Some great shapes in there.

Love the mass

Went kinda chunky with the medium and the arm is quite awkward.  But I love the weight I gave to her, probably more than was there.

No drawing last evening so...

Something intriguing about this one for me.

Reclined

The long pose and probably the best sketch of the evening.

Courage seems in a pensive mood.  Gotta finish the hair and put a bit more polish on her features.
