Lots of charcoal used on this one

I just kept piling the charcoal onto this one, creating layer upon layer (even some that weren't there).

Molly makes her return

This was the last sketch of the evening.  As you can see I just got lost in the shapes.  No sense of personality or attempt at capturing reality, just seeing a lot of ovals and cylinders.  Fun to do, maybe not so much fun to see.  My normal stuff will be coming.

A couple done in a heavy hand

I don't want to produce a lot of drawings in this style but there is something that appeals to me.  The hard outline makes me thinks a bit of the old illustrator Mitchell Hooks.  I've been a fan of his for some time now and I guess it's inevitable that some of his influence would sneak in every now and then.

Nice haircut

It really shows of the Miss D's long neck.

The gestures of D

Miss D returns to the fold and gave us some nice poses.

Head study

I love conté but this is not true conté crayon and I found it a bit harder to control.  The big dark area in the lower right of the drawing is where I tried to get the crayon under my command.  Not sure how well it worked.

Ravens

A couple of quick sketches I'm hoping to turn into cards for our store.  Lots of fun to do.

Seated repose

I think I should start simplifying some of the figure.  Unfortunately I am fascinated with the detail of the body. All of the shapes and how they interconnect.

Gestures of Courage

A bit rusty but it felt good to be back at the easel with a wonderful model.

Back to drawing tonight

So it'll be time to wake up the dormant skills and get back to work.

A commission

The first prep for a commission.  Crown of thorns will be the next one.

Toned

I used a toned paper and got to break out the white chalk.  So much I like about this piece and one thing that I hate.  Sigh, sometimes we are so blind to what we are doing.

Keeping an eye out

I liked how this was coming along.  Needed more time, obviously.

Gams

Kinda abstract, kinda not.  Just a study in red.

Action/Reaction

I like how the placement of Ashley's hands affects the position of her right breast.  It may not be a drawing to hang but it does inform the artist (me) of the manner in which the human form reacts uniquely from form to form but also uniformly in general.

Partial Paige

More from the archive.  Love the pinky finger.  Not even sorry that the drawing ain't finished.

A little cheesecake

One of my favorite poses from a bit back.

Calling Edgar

For a miniature show.  At the framers now.
