Dang

I really wish this one had more time allotted to it.  I feel that I could have drawn something pretty nice from this pose.  Still, I like it as is.

Let's do some gestures

I liked these so, since it's my blog, I'm posting 'em.  Paige turned in a great set of poses for the group.  I, however, forgot my glasses so it took some time to zero in on my drawing.  However, I think I got a few decent ones.

Great pose

Just too much fun to draw.  Love the masses and the weight distribution.

I loved the extreme position of the hip and how deeply the torso sunk behind it.  Poor planning left no room to draw her head so in this instance I was forced to leave it unfinished rather than by choice.

Better

At least from a composition standpoint.  This could benefit from a finish, though.

Hip shot

The extreme posing of her left hip really intrigued me so I kind of built off of that.  Would've been better to leave the head and neck out of the sketch.

Relaxed in red

Paige did another wonderful job for us last night.  I'm enjoying the terra cotta conté again.  For whatever reason, I like my work better when I'm using conté.

Back in... red?

My favorite of the night.  Had a ball doing this with all of the textures and shapes.  Fun.

Knees and calves

And pillows and fringe... oh, my.  A study that would've been fun to finish.  Not enough time so it will just languish.

A bit o' cheesecake

Seems like a pin up pose that our model chose.  I had a lot of fun with this one and hope to turn it into a painting at some point.

Shape relations

This is just a study of how the various masses relate to one another when the body begins to move.

Let's skip the gestures

I switched back to terra cotta conté for a few drawings last night and rediscovered what I liked about the material all over again.

Pinup

This was the most fun to draw of the entire evening.  I'm really looking forward to developing this drawing into a fully finished piece.

I see you

I was so enjoying this drawing, the turn and slight tilt of the head with her right eye partially hidden...  so much fun.

A turn of the hip

I like the relationship of the hip to the shoulders and the manner in which the seat of the chair distorts her left leg.  I wasn't so much concerned with the drawing as I was with understanding the dynamics.

Careful yet incomplete

I've been trying (maybe too hard) to be more focused when I draw from the figure.  For a long time I have just been winging it and my style varies from pose to pose.  Not sure if this new mindset will take since I'm not sure I'm happy with the outcome.  I'm also trying to settle into a new paper and it is also forcing a far more careful approach.  I'll give it some time.

Gestures from the dancer

It was a pretty good night last night and here are the gestures to start it all off.

Perspective

I really need to finish this one or ditch it.  A good start but it sure shows all of the flaws of my technique.  I hope I can save this one.

Scapula study

Kinda got enamored with the shoulder blades.  Doesn't make for a very interesting drawing but it was fun to draw.

Nice start

What can I say, I've gotten slower as I've gotten older.  Perhaps more careful or just interested in other aspects of the drawings I'm producing.  Not sure why but it is what it is.
