Gestures of Lady L

I had left my drawing implements in my studio so I was left to use some charcoal sticks and a bit of borrowed kneaded eraser.  No sharp pencils this time.  Has no idea just how much I relied on that particular tool.

Profile part 2

I seemed to get a lot of side views.  Perhaps I should move my easel once in awhile.

Profile

Love the nose.  I started channeling "Madame X" by Sargent, just not the same result.  Dang!

Unfinished

I really am upset with myself for not getting her face sketched in.  It was coming along so well but I was distracted by the difficulties I was having with her right arm and put most of my effort into getting that in better shape.  Wrong choice.

First attempt to capture new model

I like the technique but am not happy with the lack of finish due to time constraints.  Would love to have finished her face in this one.

The gestures of our newest model

Lady B did a really nice job for us last night.  She is new to figure modeling and seemed quite a natural at it.

My favorite from the night

Surprisingly, our model thought that this was a comfortable pose for 10 minutes.  I'm happy for me since I got this lovely little sketch out of it.

Relaxed

Long and lean draped over a foam wedge creates a pretty interesting subject to sketch.  The turn of  her hips  in relation to her shoulders gives us some fun shapes in the torso to draw.  This was the last pose of the night and was cut a bit short.  Too bad.

Languid

Simple lines amaze me at times.  Throw out those searching lines and one is left with just a couple of marks to fool the viewer into seeing shapes, mass and dimension.

The gestures from a great night

A really fun night of drawing with a pretty packed house.  10 artists and 6 students made for tight quarters but our model took some really great poses that made it one of the better drawing sessions we've had.

Torso

Last sketch of the night and my favorite.  Nice lost edges and the focus seems about right.

Turn turn turn

A slight variance in the previous poses.  I like the finishes I put into some of these drawings.  A little rough but appealing.

Similar pose

This was later in the session, about twice as long and I was getting more comfortable with our model's long neck and slender build.

Posture

Just getting used to the new model.  Nice posture.

Some gestures of a new model

I think as the night wore on I got some decent stuff.  As the next week unfolds I'll let you see if you concur.

A surprise

I really didn't want to draw this pose but once I got into it I really enjoyed drawing this one.  Some great relations between arms, legs and the face.  Could've drawn this for the better part of the night.

Dreamin' of better days

I decided to concentrate on drawing Miss A's face since I wasn't really interested in the pose from my angle. Good decision, I think.

A bit of shoulder

I can't tell you how much fun it has been to draw the models these last couple of months.  They have been doing research on poses and it shows when they take the stand.

Take a seat

Nice gentle twist to the shoulders made this a very nice pose to start the night with.  Just five minutes so no real chance to draw Miss A's face and head.

Some quick gestures of Miss A

We had a really good evening of drawing last night and here are the gestures.  I think that I got a couple of decent drawings and I'll post those next week.

Showing some shoulder

I was able to play with this one during our break so it became a bit more polished than some others.  I love working the musculature and the skin folds in my drawings.  So much fun to work with.  Juxtapose that texture with the basic rendering of the fabric she is leaning on and I think it becomes an interesting study.
