My favorite of the night... KNEES!

Yes, knees.  So very  much fun to draw.  Some really great shapes in the thighs but the knees just beg to be rendered to idiotic prominence.  Probably too much but, like a mountain, I had to draw them 'cause they were there.

The long pose

There are some things I like about this drawing but not enough to make this my favorite sketch of the night.  However, this one has a lot of potential and I have every intention of finishing this up.  Probably not until winter hits, though.

Squished

This one was starting to come together.  A compact pose that gave some really fun musculature to play with.

Just some lines

I love the languid lines that I used to capture this, well, languid pose.

Gestures of Miss P

A big thank you to Miss P for stepping in the other night when our scheduled model was feeling well.  Here are her gesture poses from Thursday.

Best effort of the session

Some really interesting shapes from this pose.  It was fun to draw.

My favorite sketch of the night

Just something pleasing about the simplicity of the lines, the lost edges and the soft shadows.  Nice gesture to this one.

Long pose with Miss P

I started out with very heavy lines and dark smears for shadows from charcoal sticks.  I then tried to pull it out with eraser and charcoal pencils.  I had problems and the model moved a bit with the right arm.  Overall, not happy with this one.

Miss P in profile

A little hesitant fiddling around to try and get it right the first time.

Gestures of Miss P

It's always frustrating when a couple of the one minute poses jump out at me and just haunt me for the lost opportunity to work up a potentially great drawing.  Miss P and Lady S routinely give us these types of poses that we just won't get to develop.  <Sigh>

A conundrum

Do you ever measure out the figure carefully and multiple times and still the result is just wrong?  I measured Lady S' head several times and it still looks too large for her figure.  My only answer is that her torso is slouched and from my POV the foreshortening just made for an odd pose.  I like many things about this but I'm not sure even time in the studio will make this a viable drawing.

Resting

I like the pose but I just couldn't capture her likeness.  Bothersome.

Basic start to a profile

I'm pretty happy with the basic breakdown of Lady S's profile.  Not thrilled with the hand, however.  I intend to finish this one up in the studio.

Another lost opportunity with the long pose

However, if I decide to get back to this one I think I can salvage it in post production (i.e. the studio and the drawing table).  Not sure if it's one I really care that much about though.

A study in shading

Ran low on time for this.  An indication of her face would tie this together well enough and a bit of work on the fabric.

Runnin' a wee bit behind

Here are the gestures from last Thursday.  The long weekend and a couple of art projects made me a forget to shoot these.

The only one I kinda liked

Nothing special about this pose but I like some of the work I put into it.  The figure is starting to pull out without being fully realized.  Sometimes this is a nice look.
