So much potential

I wanted this pose to last for a good long time.  I am happy with how it sits at the moment but sure would like to know how this could have turned out with a nice finish.  Oh, well...

Old school

I get an 1880's or early 20th century vibe from this one.  Really happy with her head and the direction this was going.

Good posture

The more I look over the drawings from last week the more I really like what was done and the poses that Miss M took.

Contemplative

I really dug this pose.  So simple and the shapes for her face were just wonderful to draw.

Let's skip the gestures

It was a terrific session last night with Miss M.  We did 10 thirty second gestures which got us up and running in a hurry.  This was the second to last pose from the evening.  I think I got some pretty decent work done last night, but ultimately that is up to the viewer.

Favorite of the night

Longer pose with so much to love.  The various shapes be they her hip or hair to the pillows and the blanket.  Even the rose was a nice addition.  I could've drawn this for hours.

Profile

I could spend a lot of time just rendering her hair.  Alas, I don't have a lot of time.

Black Rose

Another partial sketch.  Was pretty happy with her left hand, though.  It was starting to come along.

Just a slice of the pose

Often find myself just finishing one side of the drawing.  I actually like these types of sketches.  Go figger, eh?

A little late...

but the grandkids needed a road trip with us.  Anyhow, here are the gestures from Thursday evening's session.  Miss C did a very nice job indeed for us.  We've been very fortunate with our models and I hope all of the artists are in agreement with me on this point.

The best for last

... at least that's how I feel about this sketch.

Loose and heavy

The only way to describe the technique I used on this one.  Yes, it was the last one of the night.

Some interesting shapes...

especially from the right scapula into the lat and rib section.  Her right arm just didn't get worked out properly.  Kind of a difficult pose to get a handle on for some reason.  Could've used a bit more time to work out some problems, that's for sure.

Shapes n' shadows

A bit ham handed on this one but a great pose.  The rounded shapes were a blast to draw. More time to finish the drapery would've been great, however.

Gestures of Miss M

Very small group for the session but that just let us have a bit more freedom.  The last gesture made me think that Egon Schiele would flip for this model.  We had a blast drawing her and I even got a couple of drawings I'm happy with.  More next week.

Love those shapes

A long pose that could've been longer.  Just love all of the shape relations and the general mass right down to the pillows.  So much fun to draw.  Hope to finish her face to a degree and then call it good on this one.

Back to the back

I had an absolute ball with this pose.  I could've worked on this for most of the night.  Great fun.

The Thinker reimagined

Nice shapes to work with in this pose.  May revisit this at some point and pop in some white highlights and do a bit of work on the drapery.

Unfinished

A bit heavy with the charcoal but every so often I go nuts.  Second to last of the night but far from one of my better efforts.

Late post...

post Fourth of July, donchaknow.  Here are the gestures from Thursday evenings session.  Not a bad group seeing as how it was a three day weekend and all.

Elongated

Just wanted to use the word.  I was having a ball with this pose and look forward to finishing it off to a satisfying degree.  I really enjoy drawing the back of the figure, with all of the musculature and the way the shadows are cast. 

Reclined

Last pose from the dancer.

Heavy shading

A rather heavy use of shading but I like it.  It really gave each shape a lot of, well, shape.
