Study in red

Simple back study.  Kind of got into the abstract nature of the shadows.  Wish I hadn't rendered her head.

Gestures of Lady B

We had a large group last night causing a lot of cramped and creative easel positioning.  Lady B really gives us some fantastic gesture poses to get rolling.

Chillin' in conté

Love perspective with the figure.  Need to take more time with some of these type of poses to really take advantage of the angles and the challenges they present.

Deep shadows and lost edges

A little back study with a focus on the shadows.

Little head study.  At least I got both eyes sketched in.

Gettin' started

I was pretty happy with the face I rendered with this early pose.  Only five minutes so not a lot of time to really get into it which is why I am pleased with how well her face turned out.  Simple and not a lot of extraneous details.

Lady B seemed to be pretty comfortable in our last pose of the night.

Still getting used to using conté and got a bit heavy on some of the features.  Still, I like this one well enough.

More conté goodness

I love using the broad side of a conté crayon and the texture it leaves as I drag it across the paper.

Conté

I love using conté crayons.  A friend got me a box of old conté and I am finally getting around to using them.  I used a better grade of paper for this and wish I hadn't.  I was having better luck with my bond paper.

You guessed it...

... a missing right eye.  I think I will make a concentrated effort to fix that issue.

Seated repose

Early pose in the evening.  Very linear and searching.  Again, no right eye...

Not sure why I was omitting her right eye the other night but it seems to be apparent.

Stern look

Ran out of time (obviously) and didn't make it to her right eye.  Liked how this was turning out.

Something a bit different

Our model was running late so Mr. D jumped in for our gesture warmups.

Favorite pose

Wish this pose was longer than 5.  The great tension in her shoulders and the tilt of her head just made this wonderful to draw.

Classic pose

Love this way the figure flows within herself.  The hips almost looking detached as the lower torso languidly settles into the "bowl" created by the aforementioned hips.  Not as natural looking as the previous image I posted but very much a classic pose.

Lazin' about

Very relaxed, natural pose.  Like a moment caught in time rather than a posed image.  Would like to get more done on this one.

Took a trip for my job so I wasn't able to post.  This is a resumption of the Lady A session.
