Have I ever told y'all how much I enjoy foreshortening?

 I wish this had been the long pose for the evening.  The challenge of her lower leg was both vexing and invigorating.  I hope to go back in on this one and get it to a point of completion.  Not a bad start, though.

Another 10 minute sketch

 This one was a better use of time.  Still didn't get as far as I wanted, but ain't that the story of my art life.

Quick Sketch

 This was a 10 minute drawing.  I really didn't get very far with this one.  Looks more like a 5er to me.

The long pose

 Just a long sketch to end the session.  Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Favorite sketch of the night

 Very simple and vague.  Really happy with this one.

Torso

 That right arm grabbed my attention so I started the drawing around just that.  It didn't matter how many times I  measured the arm I just never felt like it was right.  It is, by the way, but sometimes accuracy doesn't mean it looks correct.  Learning experience.

Study in red

Just yer basic back study.  Eh, not my best effort.

Back to work...

It's still cold out there.  This is the gesture set.  Mr. M. was given free reign to break his pose quickly or not.  Makes for interesting choices by the artists.

Long pose

 This was coming along pretty well.  I like the lost edges as they let the eye rest on the more developed areas of the drawing.  I tried to get some contrast between the flesh of the figure and the material of the drapery.  It worked to a degree.  Not a bad start to 2024.

Conté cures a lot

 Conté really makes a mediocre sketch look a lot better than it has a right to.  Plus it's a lot of fun to work with.

Profile

 I'm pretty happy with the likeness I achieved in this one.  Sure, more time would have been nice but it's a decent start.

Unformed thoughts

 This was starting to round into something that I could work with but then the clock struck and it was time to move on.  Story of my life.

New Year...

...same results.  Lady S opened our umpteenth new year with a her usual great job.  As one can tell, these are the gesture sketches from last evening.
