Last post of 2015
This reminds me of one of my favorite artists, Kent Williams. Only because I realized I had severely messed up the pose and quickly knocked in the outline of the actual pose Lady J held for half an hour. I like this drawing and think it's a good one to finish out the year on.

Third time's a charm
Lady J loves this pose. I like it as well as it gives us a chance to really draw the figure elongated without being tethered to the ground. Also, the bend to the back is interesting. Here are the other two drawings from previous sessions of the same pose.
This is the first one and my favorite result. Knowing that she is going to use this pose repeatedly gives me the opportunity to concentrate on different aspects of the pose.
The second time I was faced with this pose. Compare it to the other two and you can see how I started to simplify the sketch and focus less on finish and more on construction.

Long holiday blues
A fun study of Lady J. Lot's of bone to render with the tight musculature. Yeah, it may not be the most flattering study but it was not only a blast to draw it was educational. I really had to pay attention to the way the ribs not only wrapped around to the back but how they interacted with her latissimus dorsi.

Lady J
Sometimes I just like things left in an incomplete form. Frankly, more often than not that is what appeals to me. Probably why I love drawings so much more than paintings, seeing what the artist is thinking rather than, often, something so polished that the passion is hidden beneath a coat of immaculately applied paint. That's not to say I don't appreciate paintings, but I prefer the sketch.
