Finished on somewhat of a high note
I think I like this one. Seems to have gotten to a finish I like and can live with. The technique seems solid enough for me and I even got the face to work to my satisfaction. The cast shadows are my favorite part of these drawings and they work well here.

Boy did I lose it on this one
I had such high hopes for this drawing when I started but I just got caught up and screwed up the face late in the game not to mention the left hand. I like a lot about this but seeing as how we were doing longer poses I just can't explain the lack of quality in the finish.

Not what I intended
I liked this better as I was drawing it. I really made the features of her face much more exotic than I intended and I think I liked the lost edges aspect more then than I do now. I became a bit too infatuated with her hair but, hey, it happens.
On a more somber note, a great lady passed away yesterday. Joyce Lee finally succumbed to her cancer after fighting it off for so many months. Her art is among some of the best I've been around and her friendship will be missed. Rest peacefully, Joyce.

Lost and found
I'm very pleased with this particular piece. I love the lost edges and the cast shadow merging with the model's hair. The long line drawing the eye to the navel helps to make this a nice (in my opinion, any way) composition.

No more gestures
Not even of good faith. We chose to go with longer poses, hence not as many drawings. Pair that with a missing week of drawing and I have to stretch this out. I know I explained this before but it has been awhile, so...

Gestures
Unless I dig up some new stuff, I'll be posting every other day for the next couple of weeks. Long poses only produced seven pages. But Sara did her usual great job.

Takin' a break
I may update once or twice this week but this may be a good time for a breather. Check back soon.

No model last night...
She fell ill and we just didn't end up drawing. We hope she's feeling better. So here we go with digging through the files and this one is of Jenny.

Jus' sittin' 'round
I like the heavy treatment of the lines and shapes in this one. Just lots of mass. Tyson is a great model and I hope we get some more terrific work out of him.

More like it
I had fun with this one, getting closer to how I want to render, lots of darks and strong shapes. I even like the rough manner in which I rendered this one.

Monday is Twosday
I like the top piece but the bottom sketch just didn't work. I started getting a bit too tight with the hand too early, leaving the drawing far too unfinished.

First couple of the evening
I'm pretty happy with the top drawing whereas the second sketch is just an awkward pose. Both were fun to draw and I'm happy with the heavy technique, lots of blacks and bold lines.

Long siesta
Okay, I think I finished fairly strong. I really like a lot about this sketch and feel pretty good about ending the night on this twenty minute pose. The modeling of the torso and legs have been done well enough to make me happy and I finished enough of the face to be content.

Hmmmm...
Not as bad as I thought they were. I had high hopes for the top piece. A longer pose that I seriously miscalculated on the pace of. As for the second piece I really got hung up on the hands, looking for an elegant manner in which to render them. I need more practice with hands, that's for sure.

Kinda, sorta...
maybe. This one I can't decide if I'm happy with it or not. I love the length of the body and the pose and even the drapery. I just don't know if the execution of the marks is right. I know they are accurate, just not if they are "artistic" enough. The face is right but is it more than workmanlike. Could I have done more? Another long pose and another drawing where I was aware of having more time.
