Graceful

Probably my favorite sketch of the night.  Just a feeling of form and mass.  Back to it tonight.

Gettin' better

I started to get into the swing of things by this sketch. 

Hmm

Got so caught up in certain aspects of this that I really lost sight of the overall drawing.  This was early on in the session and I just didn't have a handle on Ashley's facial dimensions.  Not happy with it but life is full of mistakes.

Missed opportunity

I would really love to finish this drawing.  A simple profile yet I couldn't get it done.  Just another minute or so to get her face drawn.  Another 5 - 10 minutes to do all of the finish work.  Alas, it's just not to be.

New model

Ashley is a wonderful new model who debuted for us last night.  I have to say that I didn't do her justice but that is not uncommon when I have a new model as it takes me a bit of time to get past the details and see only the figure, the shapes and planes.  It will be nice to get a few sessions under my belt so that I can get back to the job of objective rendering.  Here are the gestures.

Sara's senses

Kinda hit the eyes, nose & ear on this one.  Very academic and not very intuitive.  Not sure how I feel about this one.

Britain's eyes

I really like the rendering of Britain's face, especially her eyes.  Simple but effective.

Candace

Some old stuff.  This was Candace, our pregnant model.  We haven't heard but we hope all is well with the new addition to her family.

Last of Sara

The final drawing from our last session.  I really loved the weight of this pose and the heavy line work that was used.
No drawing last night so it'll be sketches from the archives this coming week.

Happy Valentines Day

I hope everyone is spending the day with someone they love.  I know I will. 

Seated contemplation

Another one I had fun with.  It was a longer pose and yet I still couldn't complete a full drawing.  Got caught up in the finer details.

Simple little head study.  Delicate linework.  I had fun with these.

Monday's are just so...

difficult to get going.  She seems to be staring ahead at the week with disdain.

Small group...

so we changed our routine.  Longer poses let us delve a bit more into the poses.  I chose to go back to a much more linear approach.  Not a lot of drawing done, but a lot more attention to detail.  I had fun.  I hope the drawings reflect as much.

A study in shapes

Britain's physique presents the artist with some great challenges in presenting how shapes relate to each other and how to create mass with just two dimensions.  She is definitely fun to draw.

Dainty little hand

Got caught up in the intricacies of her hand.  Loved the scarf draped as well.  Just not enough time to get to her face.  Common problem with my sketches, unfortunately.

Britain lost in thought... or wondering what the heck she was doing up on that stage.

Back with Britain

Took a bit of time off to see what's what and where I want to go.  Got some ideas and they may take me in a slightly different direction.  Very curious to see what develops in the next few months.  Lot's of projects that I want to tackle.  Hoping it's not an art "Bucket List"...
