Well, let's see what I can dig up...
I like where this one was headed. Simple shapes and a nice bit of static movement. Too bad I didn't plan a bit better, maybe her left knee could have been saved.

Something different
I'm doing a few things for a friend that have to do with my obsession with the pulp character The Shadow. This is a little charcoal of Ming Dwan, the alter ego of Myra Reldon. Myra was an agent of The Shadow who could infiltrate Chinatown in disguise as Ming Dwan. Just some fun...

Try, try again
The head study wasn't working out so I turned the page around and did a little knee study. Much happier.

Second version of this pose
Lady E took this pose as one of her gestures. The group liked it so much we went with a five minute version. This is also the pose that we ended the night on but I'll post that later.

Gestures of Lady E
Lady E has returned and this time we will get to track her pregnancy from first showing up through the final month (I hope). Some gestures of E and her baby bump.

Just some nice shadows and lines
This was a lot of fun to do. Loved the liquid nature of the shadows on her left side. Just a lot of messin' 'round with the technique.

Light touch
As I've gotten older I have slowed down and definitely don't get as much done with each drawing as I used to. Some of that is due to my eyes now relying on trifocals and I also seem to get too focused on an area. Well, I think it's time to embrace my failings and turn them (as best I can) into strengths. I decided to focus on a smaller area with little or no regard to the rest of the figure. I laid down some exploratory lines and just left them. I could have done without the neck but I dropped that in last moment and it kind of ruined things. However, a first step to possibly making better drawings rather than trying to cram too much in just for the sake of getting the whole figure in. I used to do a lot more of these small, focused sketches but now I think I need to. Just a fact of life.

From a couple weeks ago
I was really getting into the beautiful shadows streaking Lady S's body. So much so that I didn't notice how much she had moved during the pose and how badly it distorted the drawing. Still, I had fun exploring those shadowed shapes.

From our Sunday session
An hour study. I think I went a bit overboard with the white pastel. Still, pretty happy with the likeness.

Sweeping shadows
I really enjoyed this pose. I started with the big chunky shadows and kinda threw in a few lines to keep it from being too abstract.

Toned drawing
Need to work more on this one. Is got some potential. However, it was just a warm up for the Sunday drawings that were to come.

Study in shadows
The shadows created such strong shapes that I just wanted to use minimal line work and strong, strokes. I would like to revisit this at some point.

Heavy shadows
My favorite sketch of the night, I had just become obsessed with that big swath of deep shadows draping the model's left side of her torso. Would love to have had this pose for the long pose.

Sittin' purty
This looks, to me, like I focused on the upper and lower sections and just ignored the middle of the drawing. Some of that has to do with how the lighting really washed out the torso but also that I found the face and knees more interesting to draw.

Abstract back
Such cool shadows that I totally couldn't get a handle on. Another 5 - 30 minutes and I think that this could be a nice little study.
