Sleep, perchance...

I've always liked the challenge of this pose. It's not that easy to render when drawing from a model as opposed to a photo. Trying to keep the proportions true when there is so many planes to deal with especially if one is standing and drawing and the constant movement of the head to take in the entire figure often creates problems, at least for me.

Another linear exploration. Lot's of fun making lines that somehow inform our brain that what we are seeing is a familiar object.

A linear sketch

Pieces like this really show me how much I was searching for the right expression of the figure. Sometimes I'm just almost remotely letting my hand go about interpreting the figure in front of me. When I work so deliberately I know that I'm really observing and not just "going with the flow".

Simple

I guess this one kind of sums up all of the evening. Simple, complete and I was relaxed. Seems to make a difference.

Nice and simple with the big shapes I sometimes favor. This was the first sketch of the last session and it set the tone for the rest of the night.

I would love to have finished the face on this drawing since I really like this pose. As I stare at this one I think a strictly linear approach would have been a better treatment for the finish.

Back to the grind

From a week ago but nonetheless one of the latest sketches. I got a little involved in all of the shapes, possibly to the detriment of the final piece (such as a ten minute drawing can be).
