Forearm and torso

Another view of the sculptor's forearm and a bit more.

Coupla head studies

The sketch at the bottom of this image just did not work.  Luckily, the next one did.  Lots of fun shapes and lines in Jeff's face.

Let's skip the gestures...

although I liked the gestures.  Here is one of the later images, just a study of the forearm.

Faceless Paige

Must've been a five minute sketch that I got too intrigued with the knee.

Loose and simple

I try this style every so often since many of my art idols use this technique.  I just don't like how I execute it all that much.

Trouble with the noggin

Was very happy with how this figure came out... just not the head.  As least the little notation sketch of her head worked.

Very unfinished

I took the head out of this sketch since it was so... bad.  I liked where this was going enough to allow my vanity/ego to change the sketch in this way.  Usually I don't mind letting everyone see my poorly done life drawings.  This was just too much.

Oops...

no drawing after all.  Our model was sick so I had to cancel.  Back to the old stuff.  An old Ashley sketch from last year.

Back to work tonight so...

here's another old(ish) drawing.  Not a big fan of the angle I drew as the arm looks very wrong.  C'est l'art.

Nice pose

Less than well done. Could be turned into something though.

A dancer's torso

An old sketch from one of the dancer sessions.  A bit stylized but it reminds me a bit of a Leyendecker or Coll prep sketch.  Not as good, but the sharp shadows.

From my trip

When you have time on your hands in the airport it creates an opportunity to sketch ones fellow travelers.  This is what I came up with.  Only the guy in the upper right corner wasn't aware I was trying to draw him.  The others kept looking up which is really annoying.

Been outta town for a week so...

I'll be posting stuff from the past sessions.  Like this.

Relaxed

A bit surprised when our model took the initial version of this pose as it was a bit more extreme.  We convinced her to take a simpler version so that she could hold it better.  Turned out to be my favorite sketch of the evening.

Simple

Last pose of the evening... simple and elegant.  A bit heavy on the outline, something I'll have to watch.  However, there wasn't much to latch onto so I just kept trying to get the shape right and, well, too much outline.

Great back pose

I was getting lost in all of the contours and shadows of her back.  That explains the missing noggin.  This was a pose that I would love to have made a large drawing and, eventually, a painting of.

Interesting

The model had pulled her hair up to her mouth, creating an interesting shape.  Unfinished it looks like a towel being wrapped or unwrapped from her head.

Some gestures

Sorry for the bad photography, I'll repost when I get a chance to reshoot them.  In the meantime, here are the gestures from the dancer.

Last pose

And this one turned out to be my favorite drawing of the evening.  Should have been 15 minutes but we ran short and it was about 9.  Didn't want to rush this one as it was turning out fairly well.  I love the simplicity of the forms and the natural feel of the whole piece.  Definitely going back in on this one.

Forms

I really enjoy the poses that have so many layers to them.  All of her forms just creating interesting shapes and lines.  So much fun to draw.

Study in strength

Paige has been rock climbing for some time now and it is really showing up in her back muscles.  This drawing is almost sculptural.
