Yet again our model for the evening has canceled and left The Black Hand Group without a reason to meet. Different model, same result. It is hard to not feel upset by this as we've not been able to draw since May 16. If I am given more than an hours notice I might be able to find a replacement model but for three straight sessions I'm notified with just enough time to get in touch with my artists to let them know we can't meet. Frustration and, yes, anger are the emotions I get hit with. And embarrassment at not being able to keep this long running venture together. I've been doing this for a very long time. Maybe too long. I don't know. I just want to draw from a model. It's the most truthful form of expression for me and I miss it.
Enough of this pity party. It'll all come out in the wash, one way or the other.

On the Drawing Board
This is a prep sketch for another drawing. Graphite is not my preferred medium but since this will be redrawn in charcoal I just wanted to get a feel as this image will be one of three for an upcoming show. Just need it to be right.

A start
This is from 2016, one of the ones I wouldn't normally post. However, it looks like it was a decent start that, with a little attention to detail might pull this up from the bottom of the pile.

That's what I get for wishful thinking
I have been having just dreadful luck with models lately. Two sessions in a row canceled and we are on an every other week rotation for the summer. So few opportunities are presented and they are being wasted. I've been doing this for a long time and sometimes I think it's just time to pull the plug and see if something else comes along to take up the void. But I'm a stubborn fool who, for whatever reason, just rides things out until the wheels fall off.

Where have you gone, Lady Amber?
Well, I know the answer to that. Movin' on with her life. Still would love to have another drawing session with her.

Miss Mac
We only had this model for a few sessions but I really enjoyed drawing her. Alas, the way of nature is to move on.

From the vault
Gonna be hitting the old stuff for a couple of weeks. With no drawing sessions scheduled until the 13th, and that assumes that we actually have the class, I have to delve back into the archives.
